Howlistic Grooming Opens in Chicago’s University Village Marketplace Near UIC Full-Service Pet Salon Functions Eco-Friendly Items, Methods

Howlistic Grooming (http://www.howlisticgrooming.com), Chicago’s first holistically-focused pet grooming salon, has opened at 1258 S. Halsted St. in University Village Marketplace (http://www.uvmarketplace.com), a mix of dining, retail and service offerings in the heart of Chicago’s historic Maxwell Street.
Owner Anderson Tate, a pet groomer for 12 years – such as the last nine years at Pawsitively on Chicago’s Gold Coast — has created a spa-like atmosphere full of smells and touches that are soothing to animals. He utilizes only eco-friendly products (which includes oils, herbs, botanical and flower essences) and grooming tactics (no muzzles) that are developed, he says, to “unite the body, thoughts, and spirit of the dog and heal the negative effects that our occasionally toxic atmosphere puts on them.”
“Dogs have a specific sensitivity toward humans’ emotional unrest and anxiety,” says Tate. “Our aim is to put them at ease and show them that they are loved and appreciated.”
Howlistic Grooming specializes in the needs of large-breed dogs. It also gives special services for ill, aged or disabled pets, as properly as those with severely matted coats or behavioral issues.
Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday via Friday 7:30 a. to 4 p.m. Saturday (closed Sunday).
